I looked at the initials used on the sample and adapted the 'A' for my name to the same style and to fit in the center. Then I knew I wanted the year to also be in the center. I played around with ideas on paper deciding on the style and placement of the numbers. When I started stitching the center, the background looked to bland, so I changed to a pale blue metallic which seemed to dress it up a bit more and make it more interesting.
