After leaving Uluru, we headed off down the Stuart Highway into South Australia, onto the Oodnadatta track. Just a few seconds after this photo was taken, the dust on the track showed something hurtling towards us. After 200km of absolutely nothing, even being overtaken by another vehicle would have been interesting. However we had to jump back on to the bus smartish, as the dust cloud turned out to be a stampeding herd of large Brahmin cows!
Oodnadatta consists of the Pink Roadhouse, the Transcontinental Hotel, and a closed railway station. It felt like a long way from anywhere.
200km further into the outback, at Dalhousie thermal springs, Oodnadatta started to feel like a major centre of civilisation.
