Nose-tres-domus by Sharon G

Sharon G paints needlepoint canvases professionally. These canvases are works of art, just like a conventional painting. She has kindly let me display one of her works here.

"When I first began painting and before anyone even knew how to spell millenium I was painting this man with long beards and a bowl of fruit on his head in sepia tones. Came to the ears and I discovered, although he looked pretty good, I could not paint ears. So, after being inspired by a few cans of beer, I found I can paint a decent nose so I put noses on the side of his head, called him "Nose-tres-domus".

Sold many of them but never delivered them because I never was able to do him proper again. Carrell Bolton has the one and only (my original) at Needlepoint of La Jolla and probably will never agree to sell him...not even sell him back to me.

So, this year, I did Nose-tres-domus again but instead of painting a deep burgundy background (murder to paint for those who have done it), I did the gent on black canvas, painted him again in very realistic fashion in sepia tones, noses on the side of his face and all, and labeled him my Millenium canvas. Typical man...he has 3 distinct looks...the pleasant one from straight on, the left side is angry, the right very happy.

And, when I was up at the Needlepointer in Everett, Washington, the shop owner, Clara, has a real picture of Nostredomus and believe it or not...it looked just like him and I never saw a photo of him. Shocked the heck out of me."
