Stitched for the Rhys Daniels Trust

Copyright Charles Joyner 1981
Rhys Daniels died at the end of 1998 from Batten's disease.
His parents have set up the Rhys Daniels trust which aims to raise 2 million pounds to set
up four houses near large hospitals in Great Britain. The houses will provide the
necessary accommodation to other parents and their
children when away from home for specialised treatment, instead of having to find
inadequate accommodation near to the hospitals with no privacy. Two houses are
opening in Bristol in March 1999. The trust was budgeting to buy 54 pictures at £25 each.
Participants in the newsgroup aim to give the trust framed stitched pictures ready
to hang. This piece is a real joint effort. The pattern, Beach Cottages by Charles Joyner,
from the leaflet Coastal Sketches was sent to me by Joan Erickson from North Dakota in an
exchange. The shaded fabric was hand dyed by Gill Brown, and I did the stitching and
framing. Gill has also stitched a piece which I framed, and I have another in
progress.
