Stitching on Origami Paper

Swirls

The colour of this piece of paper, and the swirl design, attracted me. My first attempt combined a grid and shapes from the paper. I liked the colours, but the design was too busy.

Then I started to think about how to use these shapes for particular people, which provided the impetus for more coherent designs.

The paper was bought in Tokyo, and is standard origami paper. The plain colours are thinner and need an iron on interfacing backing. The multicoloured ones are thicker and can be stitched on as they are.
